Hello. We are planning a one week apartment stay in Barcelona and want recommendations on neighborhoods for a good central area which is close to a metro and also within walking distance of the Gaudi sites. I've heard that Eixample is good, but it seems like a large area, so any suggestions within that particular neighborhood would be helpful. Any specific apartments (2 bedroom/2 bath) you recommend are also much appreciated. Thanks!
hey hey Anita
what are your dates, how many is "we" (adults/kids "ages"), budget in euros, any other amenities you're hoping for?
remember check-in time is 2-4pm and check-out time is 10-11am, if early where to store your luggage. many apartments do not let you check in early with luggage then roam around unless authorized ahead of time.
happened to us in london, had to wait 6 hours with luggage sitting at an outside bar. it was not fun. always look at arrival times flying in or rent room/apt day before and let them know, same thing with checking out if you have a late flight out. lessons learned
aloha
Anita, in 2023 we spent 2 weeks in an apartment on Passieg de Gracia, 2 blocks from Placa de Catalunya, above the FC Barcelona official store. It was perfect. We were 3 blocks from the old town in one direction, and in the other direction a block and a half from the Block of Discord. Our apartment was right across the street from the bus that goes directly to Park Guell, and we had a metro stop on our corner. Right around the corner we had a very good tapas bar. Plus, one block over was Rambla de Catalunya (not the famous touristy la Rambla), where we enjoyed strolling and sitting and watching the locals walking their dogs or just going about their lives. The sidewalks on Passieg de Gracia were extremely wide, which made them great for strolling, window shopping, and sitting and people-watching.
Definitely Eixample was my favorite neighborhood to walk around in. It is such a beautiful neighborhood, and so well-designed, with tree-lined streets, and with the corners of the buildings cut off to provide even more space for pedestrians.
Also, our apartment was a block and a half from the El Corte Ingles, which had a very extensive grocery store where we shopped a lot.
I thought our exact location was perfect.
@princess pupule, thanks for your insight about check in and check out times. We are 4 adults and looking for an apartment for about $2000 for a week. Kitchen facilities and a washer, and elevator if on a higher floor would be nice.
Marty, thanks for the information. Your location sounds perfect, and can you please share the apartment details? Much appreciated.
Anita, sorry, I should have told you, our apartment was 1 bd, 1 bath. You said you need 2 bd, 2 bath.
It was an Airbnb, located at Passieg de Gracia 15. If you go to Airbnb and search that area, there are a few that have more than 1 bd and 1 bath.
