Hello! My wife and I will be in Spain and Portugal for two weeks this summer and will end our trip by staying two nights in Barcelona. We will arrive in Barcelona at about 11:00 a.m., spend an afternoon and night there, and then take a day trip to Montserrat the next day. Since the purpose of our stay in Barcelona is to use it as a staging ground for Montserrat, my thought is to stay somewhere near the Plaza de Espanya train station we will use to travel to Montserrat (we have previously traveled to Barcelona and stayed in or near the Gothic Quarter). I know the National Museum of Art of Catalonia is near the Plaza de Espanya, so I thought maybe we could spend the afternoon of our first day there. However, we will have two evenings in Barcelona and I am not familiar with this region of the city. We are not looking for a crazy nightlife, but we would like some decent restaurant options and maybe a bar to enjoy a couple of drinks.
Does anyone have any thoughts on staying near the Plaza de Espanya train station or tips on what to do in the evenings near this area? Would we be better off staying some where else or are there things to do in the evenings in this area?
Thanks in advance!
