My husband and I are planning a three week trip to southern Spain and Portugal this May. We traveled to Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastian and day trips from those cities two years ago so are focusing on southern Spain areas and a first visit to Portugal for this visit.
We fly into Madrid and take a train the same day to Cordoba, then:
3 nights in Cordoba (there during the Patio Festival)
2 nights in Granada (We have our Alhambra tickets)
2 nights in Ronda
3 nights in Sevilla
Bus to Lagos - Alsa bus company - We have these tickets already
Rental car in Lagos to explore the Algarve area with 3 night stay in Salema - This is an intentional "rest break" from our time in cities
3 nights in Evora
5 nights in Lisbon (with day trips from there)
Fly home from Lisbon
We are asking for help with transportation planning for between Cordoba and Granada, Granada and Ronda, Ronda and Seville, and Lagos/Faro to Evora. The train from Evora to Lisbon looks like a direct, easier route to purchase.
We understand that there are some rail disruptions between several of the cities in southern Spain. Do we schedule trains and they handle the transfers to buses as needed? Or are buses between these a better option? Would really appreciate specific information about rail companies and/or bus company names and how to order - and if ordering a specific route ticket is even available in advance.
Thanks for your help. We are looking forward to exploring these areas of Spain and Portugal that are new travel stops for us.
