Need help with planning Spain trip (September 2024)

Hello all! I am currently in Switzerland and traveling to Spain with my partner later this month. Here's the current tentative plan I have...

  1. Malaga, 3 nights 2 days
  2. Cordova, day trip, followed by traveling to Sevilla :)
  3. Sevilla, 4 nights 3 days
  4. Granada, 3 nights 2 days
  5. Valencia, 3 nights 2 days
  6. Barcelona, 3 nights 2 days

Could you please let me know how does this itinerary look?

Things to consider... We cannot drive, so any suggestions or recommendations would have to be made accessible by public transport. Please feel free to suggest alternative destinations or to vary the stay at any of these destinations, or offer recommendations on what to see and/or eat! While I have no dietary restrictions, my partner is a vegetarian, and we thoroughly enjoy our wines! We are not huge museum buffs (but don't mind the 'must visit' recommendations) but thoroughly enjoy nice city walks. Lastly, we are on a 'budget' in the sense that we wouldn't want to splurge and would really prefer value for money. FYI, we are in our mid-late 20s but not huge into partying but enjoy a lovely night out!

Very eager to see your responses!!!

How are you getting from Switzerland (CH) to Spain, train? If so, what city are you departing in CH?

If you are planning on going to the Alhambra in Granada, defintely get your tickets sooner rather than later - they can sell out!

Edited to add: I just looked at the Alhambra website and it is showing all tickets are sold out for September - including the Dobla de Oro General ticket.

If you’re not into going places like the Alhambra, Real Alcazar of Sevilla, Mezquita in Cordoba, or famous museums, what about just going to a few smaller, less touristy cities? And, you’re pretty late in the game to book hotels, flights and rail ticket, so that could eat into your overall budget.

My more specific issue is getting from Granada to Valencia. It’s a bit inconvenient on the train. Madrid is kind of a central hub connecting east, and north with Southern Spain. It might make sense to go to Madrid.
