Need Help with Budget Itinerary in Spain!

Hi!

I'm planning a trip to Spain in the last two weeks of July. I'm a solo woman traveller from India.

I'm interested in being around the coast mostly but also venturing into the internal part of the country to get a taste of Spain. Places I would definitely want to see would include- Barcelona, Ibiza, Seville and Pamplona (San Fermin).

I am on a student budget and would not mind reducing costs as much as possible.

I prepared a tentative itinerary:

Madrid- Seville- Valencia- Barcelona- Ibiza- Barcelona- Logroño/Pamplona- Salamanca- Madrid

Please help me determine if this is a good itinerary for 15 days- for a solo traveller on a budget- who loves the beach- and also wine.

Thanks!

You suggest eight moves. Each will take half a day at a minimum. That won't leave much time for sitting on the beach. To be economical, cut half of them. Madrid-Seville-Valencia-Barcelona would be more than enough to keep you busy, plus you save the transportation costs. Depending on where you come from and will going to, it may be efficient to arrive at Madrid and fly home from Barcelona (or wherever) using a multi-destination search function to calculate the tickets.

Hi Anuja

To me, it's a far too dense itinerary for "only" two weeks. You're going to waste quite a lot of time packing/unpacking and moving about from train station to train station (or city to airport to airport to city) and then barely experiencing anything from the places you want to visit. My advice would be to skip certain bits and focus in two or three destinations tops noting that any of those has numerous day escapades in their regions worth considering -you know, there's not a "void" outside cities, lol!

As per your itinerary above I am assuming you're flying in/out of Madrid, right?... first question: any particular reason?, you have international flights to other destinations as well, so maybe that can help to reshape your whole itinerary (if necessary).

Everybody have got different "travel styles" as discussed many times in these forums, certain people are happy with ticking a list and moving on (you know, the "seen it/done it" box), while others like to get to know a bit more of what they are visiting so they can better appreciate it. So how long to spend in each place it's pretty much a personal decision that no one can really take for you. Still, most visitors seem to have a consensus that "at least" 4-5 days for Barcelona and same for Madrid, 3-4 for Seville and 2-3 for each one of the rest you mention is the bare minimum.

Your turn to decide now :))

PS: If you have further specific questions about Barcelona -or Catalonia for that matter- I'll be happy to assist.

San Fermin in Pamplona runs 6th to 14th July, so will be over by the time of your trip.

Starting in Madrid...
AVE train to Sevilla (4nts) - possible day trips to Cordoba and Jerez
Fly to Ibiza (3nts) - possibly via Barcelona with Vueling
Fly to Barcelona (4nts)
AVE train to Madrid (3nts) - possible day trip to Toledo

rome2rio.com will help you find train, bus and plane connections between places. Use renfe.com to see train schedules and prices.

I don't know what kind of weather you're used to. In central Spain (Madrid/Seville) temps are high in the middle of summer, with 40C not unusual.
