Need 1 night Barcelona stay in hotel or bed n breakfast close to city transportation.

My wife and I are going on a cruise May 24 and will arrive in the morning of May 23. Just looking for a decent place for 1 night to relax and do some shopping before embarking on the cruise on Sunday. We would really appreciate being informed of a safe, affordable place, obviously not too far from the cruise port. Doesn't have to be in the middle of all the chaos but could be. Looking for that jewel that not everyone is aware of. This is our only vacation this year. Please help us start it right.

We stayed at hotel montecarlo on las ramblas the night before our cruise and loved it!!!

We stayed at Hostal Campi, also a block off Las Ramblas and maybe two blocks from Placa Catalunya. I liked it. Decent rooms (only half are en suite), nice staff, well located, and good price (for Barcelona).

I would recommend Hostal el Jardi. Nice and reasonable and safe. www.eljardibarcelona.com

I have also stayed at Hotel Catalonia Placa Catalunya on the Ramblas but its around 200 euros. My colleague just stayed at NH Hotel Barcelona Centro and liked it. Its around 160. All of these are close to the sites but you will need to taxi to the port. Taxi will cost about 15-20 euro.
