Navigating Barcelona Sants Train Station

Tomorrow morning, my daughter and I will be taking a day trip from Barcelona to Figueres on the AVANT train. We’re taking the green line subway to the train station. All good with that.

Once we get there, I could use some help:

  1. Do we need to exchange the tickets I printed at home in November for “official” tickets, or are what I already have the official tickets.? (There’s a bar code and a QR code on each of our printed tickets.)

  2. Will we have trouble finding our platform? I read somewhere that there’s some sort of security at the train station. Because it’s a day trip, we won’t have any luggage.

You should be good to go with what you have.

Just know your train number and find it on the departure board. It should be posted around 30 mins prior to departure and sometime a little less. At the head of the platform area you will have light security. Nothing like US airports. Show your ticket and step through. No limits on what you can have so long as it is not a bomb, gun, or big knife.

Don’t look like pickpocket bait, they are all over that station. The tickets will be fine. The platform will be posted as departure approaches. When you see it proceed to the platform and there will be security. Bags will go through a detector and so will you. Very superficial and fast nothing like TSA.
