I will find myself in Granada to see the Alhambra on October 12, Spanish National Day. The Alhambra is #1 on my Spain bucket list. Will that be a horrible day? I hear shops are closed and museums crowded. Should I rearrange my itinerary to avoid the crowds? Spain is my dream trip and my first time ... 13 day trip.
As they limit numbers of entrants per day, which day shouldn't make any difference. You want to ensure you purchase your tickets soon as they are available 90 days out. That will be in a week or so.
Find out how cities celebrate this as parades can block traffic whe you need to make an entry time frame.
Just wanted to chime in to say that tickets for the entire month of October have been available since the beginning of July. I purchased tickets for October 6 on July 3rd and already at that point one of the morning Nasrid Palace time slots was sold out. Just out of curiosity, I checked yesterday to see what was still available for the same day, and tickets were available for three afternoon slots only.
Nesstar,
We departed Granada the morning of October 12th (2015) and our hotel staff advised us to leave in the morning before the parades
started as many major streets are blocked. So I'd suggest checking with your hotel to figure out if the minibuses will be interrupted due to the parades.
