Mountjuic cable car

I have read that the Mountjuic funicular is covered on the metro pass, but it is not clear about if the metro pass also covers the cable car. Can anyone comment?

Hi, NO, the metro pass (more correctly ATM integrated public transport pass) does not include cable cars.
To clarify — the cable-car which operates between Montjüic and Barceloneta is privately owned and managed.
The cable car that runs from Avinguda a Miramar to Montjüic castle is publicly owned but is not included in the ATM integrated public transport ticketting scheme.
Also — fuiculars. The funicular from Av. Paral·lel to Montjüic IS covered by the ATM passes, as is the funicular which runs between Vallvidrera Inferior and Vallvidrera Superior IS covered, whereas the funicular which runs up and down Tibidabo is NOT covered by the ATM issued pass.
Hope that helps and clarifies things. Enjoy your visit.

Thx for this info. I am now also aware that there are multiple cable cars and funiculars! What fun...

Some follow up questions on the 2 cable cars that go up Mountjuic...

If I take the mountjuic funicular from Paral-lel up to its endpont at Parc de Mountjuic, then the start of the cable car up to the castle is right there. So I can buy tickets for the cable car there and go on up to the castle. This is the cable that has the 90 degree turn, very interesting. It seems we can get off at "the bend" for a view point, and I assume resume the journey on the same ticket. I think I read that this system is closed for Feb for maintenance but hopefully will reopen mid March.

The "Port" cable car goes from the Barceloneta beach area also to Mountjuic stopping just behind Jardins Miramar. This station is about a 1.1km walk to the Castle cable car mid point or base, but the terrain may make it to much for my wife. So I suspect we will have to ride both cables complete roundtrip! Rats :-)

No, not necessarily — you could land via cablecar de Barceloneta, walk about 150 metres or so and take the Bus 150 up to the Castell de Montjüic and, then get the cable-car down.
Or, if Port de Barcelona cable-car out of operation, take the funicular from Paral·lel and then take the 150 Bus/ or Montjüic cable-car rom there.

Bill has a good suggestion. Note that the castle cable car only stops at the midway point on the downward trip. The upward trip does not stop. Also, the port cable car is the one closed until mid March, the castle cable car is closed most of Feb (5-25).
