Morroco

Really want to do a day trip from Spain, Tarifa, to Tangier. Is there a guide that could greet us and show us around since we have such a short time? And is there one way faster/better than another?

You're very welcome Judie. How many days are you planning to spend in Spain?

Tangier is just not a good introduction to Morocco. It's easy to fly to better places like Fes and Marrakech from many cities in Europe, so you don't necessarily have to make this the year you go to Morocco and settle for the port town of Tangier.

Are you already scheduled for enough time to fully enjoy the places you'll be seeing in Spain? Believe me, a fourth or fifth day in Seville, a third day in Granada, etc., will be much nicer than some hours in Tangier.

We’re in southern Spain for 3 weeks. My husband likes to check off countries he’s been to, hence the trip to Tangiers. I agree with you, having visited Casablanca, Marrakech, and Fez (my personal favorite city in Morocco).

We are in various parts of Spain for 10 days. I know it seems crazy not to go to Morocco since we are so close, but you are probably right in the fact that a few hours is not a good taste of the country. So hard when you want to do and see everything. We just may have to plan another trip back and more time to travel there. Thanks for the help and I will keep the guide info for future dates.

Judie - Like you can said, you can always return at a later trip to visit the other cities of Morocco that is mentioned but for a quick tour and taste of the country, see what Tangiers is about. Since you will be in Tarifa, might as well make the day trip. The link I sent you with the tour guide is very helpful because he will also drive you further out from the port to see other areas of Morocco.

But weren't you just planning to go to Tarifa in order to facilitate the quick trip to Morocco? I don't think I've ever seen anyone put Tarifa on an itinerary for another reason, and it takes time to get to Tarifa from the most worthwhile places in Andalucía.

I learned from this forum that many European cities have flights to Fes and Marrakech. They can be visited easily on a trip to England, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Greece or Turkey. Some of those counties have flights to Fes or Marrakech from multiple cities.
