We would like to visit Montserrat on a Monday in April. How much time should we plan for visiting everything there? Also, what is the best way to get there?

Hi, here the author of the first link provided by Mary above.
You can visit Montserrat in "half a day", but it's quite rushed. Travelling from say the centre of Barcelona to Montserrat -that is, to the monastery's entrance- should take about over 2 hours at the very least (very best case scenario).

Montserrat was a wonderful day trip. Take a picnic to eat while you are hiking. It’s a beautiful place to be for a day.
