Montserrat - Cable Car vs Rack Car Up to the Monastery

Coming from Barcelona, the cable car train stop is the first, the rack railway is the second. So going back, taking the rack railway will mean a more empty train when you get on. However, my friend took the rack railway and got motion sickness (she's prone to it). We took the cable car and the view was great.

We enjoyed the cable car. Never took the rack car.

We took the train up the mountain because of the line at the cable car and love it. Less crowded and as a short person, I could see out the windows to a spectacular view. It also took a bit longer which was nice to just sit back relax and take in the scenery. Unlike another poster, I don't remember the train being jerky and I usually get motion sickness.

Just know that if you take the cable car you might have to wait in line to go back down the mountain.

I took the cable car. The views were awesome. There was a little bit of line. I went on a late Sunday morning. I was careful not to wait too late in the afternoon to go back down. I did not do the rack car.
