Planning on doing a day trip to Monserrat from Barcelona and will likely take a day tour to do so.
Has anyone had experiences (good or bad) with particular tour groups or guides? Many seem to offer similar itineraries but if there's something that stood out positively or negatively for anyone I'd love to hear about it!
We did a half day tour last May, used Trip Advisor to book, the provider was ( In Out Barcelona Tours ) small group ,picked us up at our hotel in a minivan only 8 . Great trip, about 90 min to Montserrat , lots of traffic till you are 30 mins away . Beautiful area and interesting site.
A group of took tour to Montserrat two years ago with Spain Day Tours! They drove us from a few hotels in Barcelona up to Montserrat! Along the way they explained different sites! Upon reaching Montserrat our guide took us all over the monastery and into the cathedral to see the Black Madonna! It was a great tour!
September 2022 four of us took an Airbnb tour to Montserrat. I’m so sorry to not remember the name but if you review each perhaps you can find it as a hike and cable car ride are included. The owner was not available and turned us over to a friend for the day. We left early in the day to avoid the buses. First to the Cathedral where he made special arrangements (usually reserved to locals) to have an up close, face to face look at the Black Madonna. Then we went on a long hike to the top. Wear good shoes! We saw areas in the mountain where monks would hide and make altars. Afterwards we took a beautiful back road tour to Barcelona. A truly memorable experience!!
