Suggestions for monthly apartment rental in Barcelona this summer?

Hi All--This is my first time posting on this forum. My wife, teen daugher, and I will be spending 2-3 months in Barecelona this summer starting around the 4th week of May 2018 through to August 2018. My wife and I have travelled a good amount internationally, but we don't know Spain well other than a 1-night trip I had last August to visit a colleague in Barcelona. He recommended trying to avoid El Raval, Las Ramblas, and the Gothic Quarter areas because of the congestion, noise, and cost. We are looking to rent an apartment for 2 or 3 months this summer in the Eixample neighborhood/area. We have been looking at apartment rental agency sites online and frankly it has been hard for us to know which are reputable, reliable, and secure. All seem to have some negative reviews and claims of scams/bait-and-switch. Can anyone recommend from experience a good rental agency that specializes in apartments in Barecelona? Does anyone know whether the Rick Steves expert consultant service (https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-help/plan-your-trip-with-our-expert-consultants) would be able to help us with that? For what it is worth, my wife and I are fairly fluent in Spanish (but not Catalan).

Thanks much, JPL

Watch your timing very, very carefully. Americans are allowed to spend only ninety days (not 3 months) out of any 180-day period in the Schengen Zone, and Spain is part of the Schengen Zone. Both your arrival day and your departure day count. Overstaying the 90-day limit is likely to result in a fine; some people have also been barred from re-entry for a period of years.

@acraven--Thanks much for the heads up on that. I was vaguely aware of this restriction without getting a visa. Fortunately, our planned departure and arrival is about 8-9 days lower than the 90 day limit.

Anyone have any suggestions on a rental agency or an actual 2-3 bedroom monthly rental in the Eixample neighborhood/area of Barcelona for this summer?

Hi friend!

If you are going yo stay in Barcelona for sucha a long time I recommend you to rent the house directly to his owners, without agency. There are a lot of people who has alreavy buy a house for sale in Barcelona as an invest and that take advantage of the summer to rent it to foreign people. As you are going to stay for a copuple of months, you can get a better price. check similar sites to airbnb (Barcelona has some legal problems with this platform) and take the best! And about the area, the Eixample is a very good one. And dont be worry about catalan, you can do it everything in English as well as in Spanish.

@ernric--I did look at what was available via Barcelona Centre Universitari, but I couldn't find an apartment with the features, location, and timing we were looking for. Same issues with SabbaticalHomes.com. We ended up renting an apartment in Eixample near Plaza Catalyuna via the Engle & Voelkers agency. I nevertheless appreciated your time and input. jpl
