Monday in Salamanca for non-Museum fan

Hola:

May I ask if visiting Salamanca on Monday/Tuesday (1 night stay) is a bad idea for a non-Museum fan? I would like to visit churches and eat at great eateries, however. do restaurants typically open all week long? I am thinking of Sept 16-17.

Muchos Garcias.

Thanks, Kent, for your super fast reply. By "a number", do you mean not the majority? Do they typically close on Mondays?

Glad to help. I don't have specific data on the number of Salamanca restaurants that are open on Monday nights. While museums are often closed on Mondays, restaurants not so much; some will be closed, but it's a substantial city and you can safely bet that you will have ample restaurant choices. However, note that some of the best restaurants will not be open before 8:30 pm, since most locals don't eat dinner until 9:00 pm or later.

Hello, if you are not interested too much in museums, know that Salamanca also has a very impressive cathedral, one of the world's oldest universities, and the grandest plaza in Spain. Kent is correct, some restaurants will close on Monday night, but I'm sure you will find a good number of restaurants still open on Monday.

Thanks very much. Are there particular dishes that Salamanca is famous for?

Other than chorizo-ibérico sausage de Salamanca, not sure about anything else in particular, just the typical Castilla cusine, meaty stews and roasts.
