My husband and I are bicycle touring around the world and are currently in Europe. We are hoping to take a week or so off to rejuvenate at a monastery or convent on the northern coast of Spain; however, finding information on these online is quite difficult. We have found several printed books on the topic, but are not in a position to order anything to be shipped as we are consistently on the move. Recommendations on specific monasteries or convents or any online resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any assistance!
Hi Kris,
Spain has a large network of government run hotels called "Paradors" - many of which are old castles, convents and monastery's. Check out this website for details: www.parador.es/en
They have a map feature where you can select the area you wish to stay
Hi Kris, adding to Rich's answer, you might want to consider this one too albeit it's not in the north of Spain, it's in Catalonia -but again, just in case someone else reading this might find it interesting. It lists and classifies all monasteries in Catalonia (as well as in some other areas in Spain, Portugal and France). The website is only in Catalan, but Google Translate is your friend in this one :))
Hi Kris, There is book, although I haven't purchased/read yet, that might interest you.
