Mom/daughter trip to Spain in Fall.

My questions are on safety of travel for 2 women and must sees.
10 days travel in the country does not include air to and from.
Right now looking at Barcelona, Madrid and Mallorca with possible jaunt over to Nice, France.

I don’t believe in “must-sees”. And you will need to pick and choose with three or four cities, so pick what interests you and your daughter.

As for safety, yes, except for pickpocketing in Barcelona. I spent a week there with a female friend and we had a great time. I have also been to Andalusia with daughters: once with my oldest and once with my youngest. Absolutely lovely trips.

What time of year is this? Are you looking for beaches?

I haven't been to Mallorca but with just ten days I'd stick with Barcelona and Madrid. Both are full of things to see and do, with possible day trips. Barcelona has good beaches if that's a goal.

A "jaunt" to Nice will take most of a day in each direction, so a full day there will take up nearly a third of your time in Europe. I suggest saving Nice and the Riviera for another trip when you can give that area the time it deserves.

If you haven't set up your flights, I suggest flying into Barcelona and back from Madrid, or vice versa, to save the time and cost of backtracking (a "multi-city" itinerary on websites). Both cities have service to European hubs and some US airports.

I'm an old guy but I wouldn't worry about safety if I were you. The parts of Barcelona and Madrid where visitors go are safe from all risks except pickpocketing, which is an issue in most European cities. Basic precautions can help you minimize this risk.
