Missed Alhambra ticket timeframe/Is a guided tour worth it as a second option?

Hi All,

I missed the window to buy tickets to the Alhambra for March 10th-12th.

I have seen some guided tours through Viator-TripAdvisor.

I was wondering if this would be worth it? Does anyone have a good experience with one of these guided tour groups?

best,
Jennifer

If you have no other way of visiting the important sections off the Alhambra, of course you should go with a tour.

But I think there are options far better than Viator or TripAdvisor.

What other possible ways might there be to see all of the areas of the Alhambra, outside of getting the official tickets?
Are there sometimes tickets available "at the door"?

There are Dobla de Oro General tickets available for your dates, but not many of them. Act fast.

The Dobla de Oro General tickets include everything you see with the Alhambra General ticket, plus some additional (secondary) sights in Granada. Even if you don't have time for many (or any) of those additional sights, the Dobla de Oro General ticket at 30.48 euros is a lot less expensive than a tour would be.

This is the official website:

Update: I should have checked the available entry times for the Nasrid Palaces before my initial post. Tickets for the Alhambra are timed, with the time indicating when you may enter the Nasrid Palaces (the highlight of the complex). You may enter the grounds of the Alhambra and see other buildings before the time shown on the ticket.

The Dobla de Oro tickets now available for March 10-12 are for entry times beginning at 5 or 5:30 PM. I think that would be workable if you saw everything else before going to the Nasrid Palaces, but that would make me a bit uncomfortable. If you feel the same way, there is another, albeit somewhat more expensive option--the Granada Card. The Granada Card is a sightseeing and transit card sold by the Granada Tourist Office. It currently has earlier Nasrid Palace entry times available for your dates, but probably just a few of them. I think the Granada Card includes all the sites covered by the Dobla de Oro ticket (possibly a few others), plus some transportation benefits. You'd need the 48-hour ticket to have daytime access to the Nasrid Palaces. That costs 55 euros.

Here's the Granada Card website: https://turismo.granada.org/en/node/3241

Thank you so much for the advice:-) I did also try the Dobla d'oro tickets and had the same problem with the site not taking my credit cards or debit card...I'm going to call my bank tomorrow and see what might be possible.
If all else fails, I'll try the Granada Card.

Happily, I was able to get Dobla de Oro tickets by paying via my smartphone:-)
@acraven, I appreciate your help!
