We are arriving around 8:30 in the morning. Can someone suggest how to get from BCN airport to hotel claris, relatively cheaply?

ufff... it's far easier than that. From terminal 2 at the airport take indeed the RENFE train as indicated above, but get off in Passeig de Gràcia train station instead and walk a bit more than 1 block (literally, 350 yards) from there, et voilà, you're at the hotel: http://bit.ly/2IOdT3Z
