Whatever you can carry yourself on the train. There are no porters. Luggage racks at end of each car.

Renfe's language:

Translated with Google:
All equipped with ticket travelers can carry with him 3 packages, under their custody and responsibility, in the places intended for that purpose, the sum of the dimensions of the three packages shall not exceed 290 cm., and the largest of them shall not exceed the following dimensions: 85 x 55 x 35 cm (alto-ancho - Fund). The sum of the weight of the three shall not exceed 25 kg.

These guidelines sounds like they are enforced per passenger, so unless you and/or your partner exceed these parameters individually, you should be fine. In general it's best to pack as light as you can, as you never know when you'll have to navigate stairs (or make a beeline to the next train while rolling your bag)! Also, when I traveled on the train in Spain a few years ago, I didn't see anyone really checking the sizes. If you don't have giant suitcases you are probably ok.

Ditto, unless you're really carrying something very over-sized you should be fine -even if it's a bit heavier and a bit larger than the norms.

Nitin,
Here is what Renfe says about luggage allowance.

It may be too late for you to repack now, but I'd recommend not taking more than you can handle.
You can always do laundry during your travels.

Have a great trip!

You are probably on the plane. You do realize that 25 kg is over 55 pounds. You will have to haul that luggage in and down narrow stairs on the train You could be in for a lot of misery.

We observed no weighing or measuring. Seems to be what you are willing to deal with. We saw some with tons of luggage.

There is no check on luggage on trains. And there is no luggage check. What ever you can carry on, you can carry on. 25 kgs is a lot of luggage.
