Hi, We are on a family trip around Galicia and are headed to the coast tomorrow. We are staying in Xavina and would love to find a restaurant with a wonderful, high-quality Mariscada - not just something bright orange put together for the tourists. Does anyone have a suggestion? Many thanks in advance!
That coastal area of Spain is on few U.S. tourist’s radar, so my guess is anything you get will not have been put together for tourists; and how would one even know. Keep in mind that there are regional variations of the dish, so what you get in Xaviña could be very different than the same dish just up the coast.
We were in Camarinas earlier this year; it's lovely town!! Look at the restaurant VILLA DE ORO in that town.
I can give you more places for seafood if you are willing to drive; there are a few places in Muxia that I could recommend. ( I never saw a restaurants offering "mariscada" under that term. We went to seafood restaurants every night but they were, for dinner, mostly a la carte where you could choose your seafood dishes.)
In O"Grove, ASADOR D'BERTO is cocnsidered one of Spain's "seafood temples," but prices are high there.
There is an absolutely fabulous seafood restaurant on the sea in the town of Fisterre: TIRA DO CORDEL.
I'd recommend looking at places listed in the Repsol guide, which is the Michelin of Spain. But there is no English translation.
Thank.you! Lots to explore. It is beautiful here!
