Considering adding Mallorca or Menorca after Andalucia visit in mid-May. Would like recommendations re:
1. Mid-May timing...will the islands be crowded then? (Will is be summer season already?)
2. How much time should we allocate (mainly for beach/relaxation but OK with a little sightseeing.)
3. Which island? Should we aim for a particular home base? (Palma or Mahon?)

Both islands are great, but if you are just looking to relax on the beach with minimal sightseeing I would go with Menorca, it's the more laid-back smaller brother to Mallorca. You could set yourselves up in the capital of Mahon (where mayonnaise is from!) or try to rent/AirBnB some apartment in one of the smaller Calas.
Mid-May could be a hit or a miss with beach weather, summer beach season usually starts late May/early June, though you probably won't have too much of a crowd to worry about then in Mid-May.
