Mallorca help without a car

Hi, we’re staying at Hotel Capri in Port de Pollenca. Could use some advice on transportation without a car. Would you recommend a taxi or other option to get to and (especially) from Palma and any beaches you’d recommend (such as Cala Formentor)? Would you recommend a driver or tour instead?

A taxi from Port de Pollenca to Palma will be around €95, one way so it's an expensive option. There is a bus service running hourly although I've never taken it so wouldn't know the cost.

I've always rented a car in Mallorca as it's the best way to see the island. It's a very easy place to drive and traffic only really gets busy around Palma and Manacor.

I usually rent from Budget/Avis from the airport. Typically I use rentalcars.com to search for a car as prices tend to be lowest and Budget/Avis usually fit my requirements. I don't opt for the cheapest from the likes of Goldcar etc as I've read too many bad reviews.

I concur with JC regarding the car option, GoldCar has a terrible reputation also here in Catalonia.
