Hi, my daughter and I are traveling to Mallorca for the first time for 4 days next week. We'd like to stay on the beach not too hectic but not too quiet, walk to towns for shopping, dining etc. We will probably rent a car for day trips. We thought Alcudia but then I heard it was very touristy, and maybe too much of a resort/Cancun vibe. Any thoughts? Def prefer beach front. Thank you!
We really liked Port de Pollenca, which is just up the coast a bit from Alcudia but the beach is a bit quieter. The town of Alcudia is very nice, tho (and did not feel like a resort). The bus system in Mallorca is excellent so you may not even need a car. Good luck with your planning!
thank you!
So sorry I didn't find this sooner. Your trip is probably over... My husband and I used to visit Mallorca/Majorca for 5 weeks each year. We started in 2007 thru 2024. We always rented one of two homes, which now is frowned upon, so I am not including those accomodations in my list.
I am simply listing places that you and others may enjoy, when visiting this lovely island.
1).Definately the Most Affordable Rental Car Co.
"Record Go" Car Rental. Located at the Airport.
2). Our Favorite Towns and Areas. Soller, Valldemossa, Fornalutx, the Northwest Coast as opposed to east coast (Northwest not good for kids). Gardens of Alfabia, Sa Colabra, Caimari & Tafona for Olive Oil plantations and tastings. Al Campo(Similar to a Costco for groceries, souvenirs and more)...
3). Restaurants
a). Soller for a delicious casual lunch - Can Gata
b). Valldemossa - Delicious lunches @ Can Costa (memorable) and Can Pedro - Both Authentic Mallorcan, and more. Great shopping in Valldemossa !
4). Fabulous Soller Hotel - Ca N' Ai - Just beautiful, and they grow all of their own fruit, nuts, herbs and veggies that they use for guests. No children though. It's adults only. Do check it out !! A walking path to the Port is feet away. A quiet and quite charming place.
This is becoming too long, so hopefully this little bit will help someone. All the Best, Safe Travels!
