Can anyone recommend a reasonable private tour guide to take us from Malaga to Ronda. The bus tours are 8 hours long. Looking for a shortened version with less people. We have a group of 8.

I did a lot of research for a day trip like this and ultimately settled on this company: https://travelfactoryandalucia.com/
They were responsive via email and have great reviews online.
I will add that we had to cancel the trip so I can’t report further - but they might be worth looking into as a starting point.

ViaMichelin estimates a driving time of 1 hr. 37 min. one way by the fastest route, so I'm not sure you'll be able to craft a worthwhile tour that takes too much less than 8 hours, especially given the need to eat lunch at some point. However, with a group of eight, I think a private tour is a really good idea.
