How would I connect from the cruise ship terminal in Malaga to the old town?
It’s a short walk, maybe less than ten minutes. Once you are along pier, everything is rather close. There’s a loit to do in the city center, and Málaga is gorgeous at night!
There is so much to see and do in Malaga try and make sure you stay a day or two either before or after your cruise. The "Old Town" in Malaga is great at night with plenty of cool bars where you can have an ice-cold Cruzcampo beer or eat grilled sardines cooked on a bamboo skewer. One place I discovered on www.holamalagahhub.com on a new website about Malaga was the Museo de Málaga located in the old customs building. Have a great time on your cruise and make the most of your time while in Malaga.
I forgot to mention this website about Malaga, They have all the information about getting around Malaga including how to get to the Cruise Terminal from the airport and city centre.
I should probably start a new thread, but I'm going to tack another inquiry on to the original post (pardon me skisevenmom). My wife and I will stop at Malaga next April (2019) on a Trans-Atlantic cruise that continues on to Rome. We would really like to go to Granada and visit the Alhambra in the 8:00 to 20:00 hr time we have in port. I realize this will be a challenge as it is a 1-1/2 hour drive between Malaga and Granada, and that the Alhambra complex is immense and could easily consume more than a half day (which we won't have). I took a quick look at the train and bus situation and buses make the trip in an hour less time than the train, but a bus makes me skittish (any traffic congestion, road blockage, etc) about the return trip. As we're not familiar with the roads between the two cities and specifically not knowledgeable about parking a car vis-a-vis a visit to the Alhambra, driving doesn't seem like a good option. I've read reviews of cruise ship excursions, and may are not so good (too little time at the venue, too long a lunch, etc. along with a premium cost).
I'd like to find a "private" (or, I suppose, technically, a small group) guide that would pick up at the cruise ship terminal and head straight for the Alhambra, either wait for us for 3+ hours, or if necessary, guide a tour, then take us back to the ship terminal. We don't need a lunch, wine tasting or any other stop along the way. I suspect I could probably find another 2, 3 or even 4 couples (or a like number of singles) to join us from the ship we'll be on if I could work this out.
Could anyone suggest the name of an individual or small company? In order to keep my wife from having high-anxiety over this, I'd like to find a person/small company that is accustomed to adhering to a specific schedule. If we'd miss our ship, I would have a very unhappy wife, and a costly hassle to catch up with the ship.
Vacations to Go has a shore excursion to the Alhambra. I don't know the details regarding time or guarantees to get you back to the ship. We worked with Jordan Hall 800-338-4962 extension 7587, email [email protected]. Good luck, and perhaps we will meet you if you're on Rhapsody of the Seas.
