Malaga on a Port Day

We’re arriving by ship tomorrow, 10 May. We don’t want to do ship excursions but instead, we want to enjoy the city on our own. How can we get from the ship to the terminal? Are there free shuttles for passengers?

We would like to have lunch at a restaurant that serves food that’s typical to the area.

Are there Hop on Hop Off buses in Malaga?

Thank you!

Enjoy the relatively short walk from the terminal to the old town. Malaga offers a variety of pedestrian only avenues and wide sidewalks adjacent to street traffic. The old fort is a worthy experience offering the story of Malaga's transitions during the past 1,200 years. For a food experience strongly recommend NOT eating within the tourist zone, but do view the following YT video:

You don't need a shuttle.
There is now a wonderful promenade from the cruise terminal around into the town with lots of shops and restaurants, from reports I've seen on video from recent visitors, which has integrated the Port area into the city, by all accounts.
It encourages dawdling.
When you land it'll probably be quiet, but by all accounts comes to life in the afternoon and evening.
But usually the ship advertises a shuttle on the evening before as well, so as to not detract from shore excursion sales.
