My husband and I are spending a month in Malaga this winter visiting our son. We'll be renting an Airbnb and are looking for suggestions on the best neighborhoods for a long-term stay. We hope to have easy access to public transportation since we plan to take a lot of day trips. Thanks!
I can recommend this location for an extended stay. You get an apartment with the advantage of also having a front desk. 1 block from beach and major bus lines.

We are staying at this location in October—41 Calle Beatas 2-5, Málaga, AL 29008, Spai

Thanks for these two suggestions. We will check into them.
We like the Soho area. We have also stayed in city center, by the beach and out in Trinidad, but have preferred the Soho neighborhood for its convenience to the many bus stops on Alameda, the closeness of the commuter train station, plus the Maria Zambrano main train station (with main bus station across the street) can be walked to within 15 minutes if you prefer not to take the commuter train one stop over. There is also a smaller bus station near the port so you are surrounded by transport options.
Aside from that, Soho is next to the city center (pedestrian street Larios) and a short walk to the port/beach along with parks, the Roman theatre, Alcazaba and the Castle.
We will be headed there for 2 months in 2025 for our 6th winter and have always enjoyed our stay which has included a number of day trips and overnight trips for 2-3 nights away. We never tire of walking around the city. Have a great trip!
Wow Susan- that is really helpful! I can't wait to get there.
