Malaga and surrounds

My husband and I will be arriving to Malaga in mid April on the WindStar sailing cruise. We aren’t huge fans of cruising, however we do enjoy the small boat cruising WindStar supplies. We had two excursions booked with the cruise line, however, a change was made to the itinerary so the trip to Mijas Pueblos (white village) was canceled. We are taking the excursion to Cordova. Now, I need to decide if we want to stay in Malaga and explore one day or try to figure out how to get to Mijas Pueblo ourselves or try something else? Anyone ever been? Is it worth it? I think Ronda is too far from Malaga or I’d go there.

Have you ever been to the Alhambra? Granada is a doable day trip. Bus to Granada, taxi to Alhambra.

There's plenty to do there in Malaga. As the birthplace of Picasso, for instance, their Picasso museum is better than several more popular ones.

Never been to this part of Spain, so all new. Been to Seville, Madrid and Barcelona only. Looking forward to exploring a new area.

I would spend the day in Malaga. There are several interesting sights, the Alcazaba and the Castle, a nice old center with lots of pedestrian streets and a nice market. The Picasso museum. And if interested, the beaches will be warm enough for walking or sitting (swimming probably hit or miss), and the beachside restaurants are legendary.

Do a search on YouTube, lots of bloggers have short videos on things to do and good things to eat.

Spend the day enjoying Malaga, it's a nice clean friendly city with plenty to do for a full day. We travel at a slow pace and enjoyed a full week there.

Another vote for Malaga, old centre great for wandering and tapas, Roman amphitheatre, alcazaba, cathedral, Picasso museum, two other world class galleries etc etc.
A lovely place for a day (Mijas Pueblo is a small white town without much of interest)

I wouldn't worry about trying to organise a visit to Mijas Pueblo as there's not a great deal to see, Malaga has a lot more to offer.

Thank you all. It’s a little bit of FOMO when I tried to sign up for something and then it was gone.
