We will be traveling to Spain and Portugal in May. For our return trip we will be departing from Porto and making a connection in Madrid Barajas airport for our international flight back to the states on Iberia airlines. We only have 70 minutes to make our connection travelling from terminal T4 to T4 satellite in Madrid. I assume we will also have to go through the EES exit process and perhaps customs. Does anyone know if 70 minutes is adequate time to make the connection? The airline thinks so.
I make a 55-minute connection in that airport every year; I do get anxious but I've never missed the connecting flight. Since you are on one Iberia ticket, they know that you have that connection time and will probably call your name over the loudspeaker if you dawdle.... It's a large airport but it's very well signed. I just went through the EES process and it took about a minute; travelers with tight connection are directed to a special line so waiting time is cut. Last year, even with the 55-minute connection, I had time to use the rest room and grab a drink in the lounge, as crazy as that might sound.
Just try to get seats near the exit and try to get off the plane as quick as you can, but do not worry!!
