Majorca (or Mallorca) Spain

Our cruise ship has changed one of our destination ports to Majorca Spain. There aren't any interesting excursions available. Any one have any idea how easy/hard it is to get from the port to say a downtown? Or any suggestions what is a must to see (the cathedral is on our list)?

I don't know anything about the port or transportation from there, so hopefully someone else will help you with that. We took one of those double decker tourist buses and it was really great! The cathedral is beautiful, but aren't they all? Have fun. If you rent a car, one of the most beautiful beaches is not too far: es trenc.... we didn't make it there, regrettably. http://mallorca-beaches.com/es_trenc_beach.htm

Thanks. I just stumbled on the bus option in my research. Good to know it's worthwhile.

There is a bus stop about two blocks from the port. Take the bus downtown
and begin walking. The cathedral is beautiful inside and Las Palmas is a
very interesting city to walk around in. If you are shopping for pearls
there are several stores near the cathedral. They are not real pearls
as such so bargain!

Jenn.. going on a cruise .. definitely go on the cruisecritics.com forums.. you will get tons of help from cruisers who have been to the ports( they have seperate forums for each port!) and can tell you about walking into towns.. taking taxis.. buses, private tours etc. etc.. I have cruised 6 times and I always go on those forums.. instead of maybe a handful of cruisers on this forum.. you will encounter hundreds.. so get way more answers. Good luck. ( we always do our own port trips too.. )
