My wife and I are going to Madrid for a long weekend in mid-October, with a day trip to Toledo. It'll be whirlwind, but we've done this same thing the last few years to other European cities. I have a couple of specific questions:
We have timed-entry tickets to the Royal Palace in Madrid and the Cathedral in Toledo. I will do the same for the Prado when that is available next week. We also have two dinner reservations booked (one of which is the dinner and show at the Corral de la Moreria). Are there any other tickets or reservations folks suggest we should make in advance? We are probably going to skip the Reina Sofia and Thyssen given the short duration of our trip.
For our first night, we'd like to do a tapas crawl rather than a normal, sit-down dinner. Are there specific neighborhoods you suggest? Our hotel is close to the Callao metro station, for what it's worth.
Any favorite restaurants for lunch in Toledo? Rick's book is thin on suggestions.
Do train tickets to Toledo book up in advance, or will we be safe buying them the morning we depart right at Atocha?
Thank you in advance,
Steve
