Madrid transport—two questions

Hola! I am making a repeat trip to Spain starting tomorrow—first time flying on New Year’s Eve, wooo— and I have two questions:

I have a leftover Madrid transit card that has at least a few trips left on it. I will just be going to Barajas stop for an overnight stay. Anyone know whether I can simply add the airport supplement to this card at a Metro machine without buying a new card or single journey ticket?

The next day, I head to Atocha to catch a long-distance train. Anyone know whether my Renfe ticket still includes the free cercanías ticket?

Gracias y felices fiestas.

You can add the airport supplement to the card without having to buy a new card.

I can’t answer the second question, but remember that the cercanias from the airport goes to Chamartín. It no longer runs to Atocha.

Thank you! I actually plan to take Metro to Nuevos Ministerios and the cercanía from there.

Hi Julie, not sure if you’ve already decided, but just a heads up that the Airport Express bus (yellow bus) is 24 hours, but the Metro closes at 1:30 AM.

Also, if you are taking a taxi from the airport to the center, make sure they charge you the flat rate (Tarifa Fija) of €33. Sometimes drivers 'forget' to mention it to tourists!
