Madrid to Seville

My husband and I are traveling in April of this year, and trying to understand whether we should fly or train to Seville. We will have landed there already at the airport from Porto so not sure if it’s the same airport that we would check into for this Flight. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Same airport, possibly a different terminal. Since you’re just transiting through Madrid and already at the airport, I’d just fly to Sevilla.

Are you spending time in Madrid before proceeding to Seville? If so I'd recommend the excellent Renfe high-speed train; it's a comfortable 3-hour ride into central Seville. If you're simply landing in Madrid and continuing to Seville without touring Madrid, flying makes more sense.

Thank you for the quick replies! I suspected that the the convenience of already being at the airport might make more sense, but needed the confirmation. We are passing through, so we will fly!

I haven't done the trip yet (upcoming in May) but we are landing in Madrid and planning to take the high speed Refe (AVE) train to Seveille right after. Booked it for 3 hours after I land in Madrid with the fare that can be rescheduled in case of flight delays. While flying seems like the most sense since you'll already be at the airport, I personally was more worried about flight delays and potentially missing my flight down to Seville. Figured if we missed a train...we'll catch the next one. A missed flight is a bit more of a headache

You’re going to need to compare the two modes of transportation. When you land in Madrid and when the next flight to Seville takes off. How much will it cost you to take the first flight to Seville and how long do you have to wait for the next flight to Seville. How much time do you spend going from the airport to a train station? When would be the best time for you to travel on train to Sevilla base on the time that you land in Madrid.

Remember that the train station is in the middle of town usually while the airport is usually in the outskirts of town.
