Madrid to Sarria by train Good Friday

Should I be concerned about being able to get train tickets on Good Friday, April 18 or on April 19 to Sarria from Madrid? Will the trains be running on their regular schedule? I've never been on a train in Europe that is full, but have not traveled on a train in Spain on Easter weekend, either.

For scheduling reasons my dates are not flexible.

I will be starting the Camino de Santiago from Sarria on April 21, the day after Easter. I would like to arrive in Sarria either April 18 or 19. I have a hotel room in Sarria already, but the room is still refundable.

The issue is that train tickets have not been posted for April yet on either Renfe or third party train ticket sellers like the Trainline. They are posted through the end of March, but none for April yet. I think I am too early to book tickets and will keep checking.

Alternatively I could fly to Santiago de Compostela and take a train or bus to Sarria, but that would cost about $160 more. If I am going to have an issue getting train tickets on Easter weekend, I would just book a flight to SDC now to not risk flights selling out.

Finally, one more question. Does the train go all the way to Sarria, or is there still a bus transfer from Ourense to Sarria as part of the train ride, as was happening previously.

Thank you.

The train that goes to Sarria departs from Madrid’s Chamartín station. When I did the Sarria to SDC walk, I went a couple days early and visited Lugo (the stop after Sarria), then went back to Sarria to start the walk. Lugo has a Roman wall encircling the town and worth visiting if you had the time.

The Renfe schedule for 18/19 April doesn’t seem to be posted yet, but should be posted soon. The bus transfer at Ourense was due to rail and tunnel works. I picked a date in March and it isn’t showing a bus transfer.
