Madrid to Figueres to Cadaques

Hi,

What's the best way to get to Cadaques, from Madrid?
It looks like Cadaques doesn't have a train station, and we would need to take a train from madrid to Figueres. Is this correct? How do we travel from Figueres to Cadaques?

We're considering travelling from Madrid to Figueres by Renfe train , finish a visit to the Dali museum, and then head to Cadaques by Sarfa Bus.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, no help needed, that's exactly how you travel to Cadaqués... train to Figueres, probably AVE (high-speed) is best, then bus to Cadaqués. If anything, Madrid's fast trains don't go directly to Figueres, you need to change trains in Sants station in Barcelona. You don't need to purchase a separate ticket if you already booked MAD-Cadaqués, just to transfer to another train.

But then, you're staying overnight in Cadaqués, right? otherwise, it's hardly possible to do all that and return to say to Barcelona on the same day.

Hi Enric,

Thank you for the reply. We're staying overnight at Cadaques for 2 days. We're also looking for a place to keep our luggage (will have at least 6-7 bags with us). Any idea if there's a luggage storage facility at the Figueres train or bus station?

Hi Shreya,

It doesn't look like, sorry: http://www.adif.es/en_US/infraestructuras/estaciones/4307/servicios_000303.shtml It's a small station. Which btw it's outside the town centre (a bit more than 1 mile or so), so you'll need to grab a taxi at the taxi rank in the station. There's also a Tourist Office inside the station, so you can ask there about the luggage.

The bus station is in the centre, close to the museum, but I'm not familiar with this facility. The phone is: +34 972 673 354

There is luggage storage at the bus station in Figueres which, as a previous poster noted, can be reached by taxi from the new train station on the outer edge of town. There are also buses from that station to the downtown station area (train/bus) which probably meet most of the trains but, with lots of luggage, they're probably not an option.

Thank you Janet, we'll most likely take a taxi to Figueres City station , and keep our luggage at the bus station.
Enric- Thanks again! will call the number to check that they have a left luggage facility.

Looking to book bus tickets from Figueres to Cadaques - the Moventis website is not allowing us to book the tickets this early ( for october) . What's the earliest that we can book bus tickets?

30 days in advance.

Since it was far easier for me, and it wasn't too much of a hassle, I've called on your behalf. Confirmed! there's a luggage storage facility at the BUS STATION in the centre of Figueres. Cost is 2€/p.day/p.piece. They ask me though when where you arriving because during July and August the usage of this facility is quite heavy and not always have empty cupboards to store luggage. They said October is no problem.

Also, for info, here you have details for the TI in town -at the station they have only an information stall- http://en.costabrava.org/come/overview/tourist-information-points-offices-and-centres/figueres-tourist-information-office-34128

Have a safe trip!

Enric,

This was so kind of you!!! How nice of you to go our of your way to help another fellow traveller out, proving there's so much goodness in this world :)
I did try reaching out to the number you provided, but didn't make much progress since I don't speak any spanish.

Thanks again for all the guidance!

Cheers!

No pbl... a mere phonecall :))

In any case, so you know, the local language is not Spanish but Catalan. Spanish is co-official and studied at school and also the mother tongue of a chunk of the population of Spanish origins but the language of the region is Catalan, another Romance language from the same family as French, Portuguese or Italian. Nevertheless, if you speak in Spanish you'll be also understood and in many places -not all!- you'll find the signs, menus, etc in both languages (and in English and French in the most touristic places)
