madrid to caceres may 11

hello all,

a quick question. tickets to caceres from madrid are finally available for may 11 but comes with the following disclaimer:

'Por obras de mejora en la infraestructura de Adif, este tren modifica sus trayectos. Se realiza por carretera Plasencia-Mérida finalizando en esta sin continuidad a Sevilla. Se realiza asimismo por carretera Mérida-Almendralejo y desde esta en tren a destino.'

auto translate suggests that the train terminates at plasencia due to construction, then by road to merida then back on the train to sevilla. since caceres is the stop after plasencia, seems like I have to find a bus. am I reading this correctly? in situations like this does renfe provide bus service as part of the ticket price? Should I just take the bus all the way from madrid? what would you do?

a little wrench in the works but that's part of the adventure I suppose!

thanks,

They are rebuilding the permanent way south of Plasencia. So, yes, you will have to get off at Plasencia and then take a bus to Caceres. However, Renfe will organise the bus and the cost is covered by your rail ticket - you don't need to make your own arrangements, buy a separate ticket, etc. Just get off the train and look for the signs to the replacement bus to complete your journey.
I'm afraid I don't know what options are available to take a coach directly from Madrid to Caceres. Although, I suspect they won't be much quicker.
