Is there a valid reason to be charged 38.50 EUR vs 33 EUR posted to go from area near Retiro to MAD T4? Was mid morning Sat, nothing special, 2 pax and normal luggage. Wanted to make sure was not ripped off before disputing. Did not have time to argue with driver.
Not that I can see, no surcharges are listed that can applied, like a reservation fee.
But not sure how you are going to dispute after the fact, he told you the price, you paid.
Dispute 5.50?? Seriously?? You paid. Forget it.
Update, I disputed and won. The difference was credited to my card. It’s not the amount but the principle.
Mainly asking this question for others who might read, not because I think you should answer me: did you tip him anything on top of the €33?
Definitely not.
Also, just want to put it out there that I find Spanish people on a whole to be some of the kindest, most genuine, and friendly people I have encountered anywhere. This experience did not take anything away from that. Madrid is a great city too.
Sounds good. The cc company took your word for the overcharge!
That’s a win, if you value your time at about one euro per hour to contest that and then post about it.
Took me 2 minutes on my phone to dispute, no sweat off my back.
