Madrid-Seville….effects of flood

We will be travelling to Madrid next week and taking the train to Seville. Should we be concerned with the weather and getting to and from Madrid and Seville?

Thank you

The tragic floods that hit Spain recently were in the Valencia.region and other areas of eastern Spain. Today. Alfafar— another town near Valencia—was also.flooded. The Barcelona region had torrential rain in the last few days, but it was nothing like what happened in greater Valencia. Neither Madrid or Seville were affected as they’re both hundreds of miles away.
That said, in September 2023 Madrid was hit by flash floods in some neighborhoods just a couple days before I arrived there.

Unfortunately, with climate change storms bringing torrential downpours are expected to increase in frequency and intensity worldwide. In September the Czech Republic. Austria, Germany and northern Italy were hit by flash floods— so it’s not a situation that is unique to Spain.

No, the area mostly impacted by the kind of recent weather events are on the east coast of Spain, opposite of where you are going.

Thank you for the replies

I am just trying decide weather to cancel while I can. Don’t feel like having a difficult time with transportation and bad weather. To tell you the truth, the reason we chose seville is the weather in November. Sure enough it ended up being the reason we might have to cancel. So disappointed

No logical reason at all for cancelling a trip to Seville or Madrid due to bad weather. Spain is a large country (as per European standards) and the area affected by flooding (last week) is far from both cities.

Seville to Valencia is almost 800 km, about the same distance as Calgary to Regina. A problem in one doesn't mean a problem in the other. Happy travels.

I wouldn’t cancel the trip. If you had a trip planned to Los Angeles and San Francisco had heavy rains—-why would you cancel the trip to L.A.?
