Madrid-Seville-Barcelona OR Valencia?

We will more than likely be flying into Madrid and out of Barcelona. We will have 12 days on the ground and are looking at doing 4 days in each city. The middle city we are considering taking the train to Seville OR Valencia. If we go to Seville, we will take a flight to Barcelona as its slightly more time effective. The train from Valencia to Barcelona is much more approachable, I feel.

I am torn because I have heard such renowned things about Seville and how highly recommended it is (arguably over Madrid and Barcelona). I feel like Valencia will be easier to get to, and arguably still a ton to enjoy and see.

Interested in anybody has thoughts on this. Thank you!

We had 3 days in Seville and wished we had longer. It was our favorite place in all of Spain. Do not skip.

We had 15 nights with the same decision to make. We chose Valencia (4 nights). Seville and Andalucia could be a whole trip by themselves.

Valencia is a great city. I liked its laidback attitude, less crowds and cheaper prices. I ranked it above Madrid in our trip.

Seville is more distinctive than Valencia, so I think you'll get few votes for Valencia, despite its being a nice city.

But what time of year is this trip? Seville is likely to be brutally hot in the summer. Madrid may also be less than pleasant. Barcelona will be cooler, but if you hit a humid period, you may be sorry your third destination is oppressively hot.

Seville is more magical than Valencia. But Valencia is still very pleasant. Seville is my favorite in Spain but I’ve only been to Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Girona, Cordoba, and Grenada in addition to Seville and Valencia.
