Madrid-Sevilla - airport question

Hello!

Planning on going to Sevilla w my adult son next year, currently debating Madrid-train to Sevilla or Madrid-fly to Sevilla (neither one of these are the question).

I'm on the Madrid airport's website and it seems that a Non schengen arrival to a Schengen departure means I have to collect my checked luggage, is that correct - like the US? We're not checked through? We'd be flying Iberia most likely.

Anyone confirm or deny? tyia!

If you fly on one ticket from the Us to Sevilla with a connection in Madrid, your luggage will be checked through to Sevilla. You do not have to collect your luggage. I've done this many times.

You should buy your Iberia ticket to Sevilla, not to Madrid. It's a lot easier that way than having to go into Madrid and take a train to Sevilla.

This is not your question, that has been answered. This is just an FYI. Whatever amount of connection time you think you need in Madrid double it. If you land and depart from 4T on one ticket that won't be an issue. But if you need to change terminals plan on a few hours. I have seen so many people running to make their flights and of course more than one security line and they miss their flight. Have a wonderful trip. J

We flew from the US to Seville with a connection in Madrid, booked on one ticket. Our luggage was checked all the way through to Seville. You will go through immigration in Madrid. And Madrid’s airport is huge, be prepared for a lot of walking. The airport is layed out linearly, so it is a very, very long walk from one end to the other. There are signs that tell you how long a walk it is to certain gates. And some flights require you to be bussed out to the plane, then walk up the stairs to board.

ah, thanks to all, I had hoped this was the case, the airport's website makes it far more confusing than it needs to be!
