Why is Madrid Royal Palace Closed on April 13 - 21, 2018?

More than a month ago, I bought 2 tickets directly online (10 Euros each) to visit the Royal Place in Madrid on Monday April 16 at 5 pm. I just received an e-mail advising that the tickets were cancelled, and that I would receive a refund, because "for official causes" the Palace will be closed. This is disappointing as we were looking forward to this visit during our short trip to Madrid, April 16 -April 18. This was one of the main sites we wanted to see in Madrid, and we even booked our Hotel near the Palace for that reason.

I went back online and booked Tuesday April 17 at 4:30 pm, and downloaded the tickets, although another page on the site seems to say that they are also closed on that date. Then I received another email cancelling those tickets for the same reason.

What is happening on April 13 through April 21 to cause this closing.? I understand that it is for some official event(s) but I wonder what; as it it will be for several days and we will be nearby?

I have no specific information, but sometimes magnificent buildings like that are used for special events (government receptions, etc.), which can lead to short-term closures. I've seen smaller buildings closed because the space was rented for a wedding.

The website simply says that the palace is closed on those days "by official act or festivity in the municipality" (per Google Translate), but that the armory and kitchen are open every day during that period except on the 16th, 18th and 20th.

Thanks, I was just wondering what specific events or festivities will be taking place in the Palace while I will be in a hotel right nearby; perhaps there be something I can see happening in the area.
