Looking for a recommendation on a guided tour of the Royal Palace. Thanks.
Is there a reason you don't want to take the guided tour from the official Royal palace website? Are you looking for a third party tour?
I thought about possibly a third party guide but your suggestion would probably be my best option. Thanks for the heads up!
We took the official guided tour (in English) last year and loved it! The guide was very knowledgeable and gave the tour from the perspective that you were a visiting dignitary to the Palace. After the tour you are free to explore on your own, and we felt we had a good sense of what we were looking at by that point. I'd definitely recommend the official guided tour
Can I make a suggestion? Either before or after you visit the palace, go inside the Almudena Cathedral next door. It is truly magnificent. Entry is free.
When we visited the palace, we used the audio guide that came with the tickets. I thought it was fine, but I overheard a tour guide talking and wished I had taken that guided tour, because he was spouting some really interesting stuff.
thanks folks!! Definitely going to go with the guided tour.
I want to add on to Marty’s suggestion of the Almudena Cathedral. Right next to the cathedral, tucked in the corner, across the piazza from the Royal Palace is the new Royal Galleries Museum. I was there in April and it was impressive. I realize all three in one day may be tourism overload but all three are worthy sites to visit. Since the Royal Galleries is new not so many people are aware of it yet.
