Madrid Restaurants

We are looking for moderately priced restaurants with a great local ambiance and flavour. Appreciate recommendations. We will be there in early October.

We enjoyed Los Cuatro Robles (3º, Pl. de Celenque, 1) both times we ate there. On one trip we ate in the upstairs dining room. On our recent trip we ate downstairs in the bar area with all the locals who went there for drinks after work. The downstairs can get pretty loud. It’s a very short walk from the Puerta Del Sol. We’ve found restaurants in Madrid to be hit or miss. Some look like they would be good but end up not being great.

In October 2017, O Pazo de Lugo was basically our headquarters in Madrid. It's located on a street behind the Reina Sofia Museum. A great menu, and a really good tapa with every drink. On every visit, our waiter would treat us to a shot - something different every time. I don't know if our fellow diners were locals, but I didn't hear much English spoken either. It was recommended by the staff at our hotel - the Artrip.

Our favorite moderately priced restaurant with great local ambiance is La Sanabresa in the Huertas neighborhood. We were there a few years ago and ate there twice. We had a complete dinner that included a bottle of wine & dessert. Enjoy your stay in Madrid! https://restaurantguru.com/amp/La-Sanabresa-Madrid
