I am going to be in Madrid April 3 for only 3 days. The only thing my son has asked for is a scarf from the Rayo Vellecano team.
When I look at a map the Vellecano neighborhood it is very far from where I'm staying in Embajadores.....I will not have a car.
Real Madrid merchandise is plentiful!
Does anybody have any suggestions where I can buy a souvenir from this team centrally.
I know this is a long shot. Thank you.
You can check El Corte Ingles or a sporting good store, but it’s usually the major clubs I’ve seen in stores. You can also buy items online.

I applaud your son for following a "minor team" in La Liga. Rayo Vallecano gear is rare outside of Spain, making a scarf (la bufanda) a true treasure for him. It is unlikely to find quality Rayo gear outside their team store, and it is true the location of it (112 Avendea de la Albufera) is over 6 kilometers from your Embajadores location. The easiest way would be by Taxi.
Perhaps you could blend a trip to the team store with some other adventure south east of the Atocha train station. Rayo play a home match on April 6th (Valencia) - if you are still in Madrid at that time, a few photos of "like minded Rayo fans" would be an added treat. Their stadium is adjacent to their team store.
The store phone number is (+34) 902-947-762.
Be certain to check their hours prior to your visit.

Is the link to the store website with the address and hours. If you can't read Spanish just use Google Translate. But the hours are as follows
Morning hours Monday-Saturday from 11am to 2pm
Evening hours Monday-Friday 5:30pm-8:30pm
Game days they are open 1.5 hours before the game up until kickoff.
Their website isn't in English but hopefully if you told them you wanted a "bufanda de equipo" they could help. I would take a taxi there and back. In this case, with the rarity of the team scarves it's worth it.
Thank you to all for your advice. I don't imagine a taxi would be too costly and my Canadian son would treasure it.
So it's me and Google translate in action!
@carbarclay-
I don't know where you're staying but the stadium and store is right near the Portazgo metro station (Line 1). It might be cheaper to take the metro if you are near to Atocha or the Prado.
I'm staying in Embajadores district, I think the nw part. I'm leaving from Attocha unfortunately early in the morning.
I will decide the best mode of transit once I get a lay of the land.
Thanks for your input.
