Construction on Madrid’s Metro line 1 continues in the city between Puerto del Sol and Valldecarros and has closed the metro station at Madrid’’s Atocha train station. Those arriving into Madrid can use buses for free, or pay for a taxi to get from Atocha into the center. The metro station at Puerto del Sol is open with metro service on other lines available.
Construction on line 1 was expected to be completed in October, but from the way things look in Madrid today, that may be delayed well into fall.
Construction also continues at Madrid’s Chamartin Clara Campoamor train station. The Charmatin metro station is open, however.
Travelers should allow extra time at both stations to navigate the way to their trains.
Thanks for this information. I panicked for a second then remembered I was planning to walk from Atocha to my hotel.
