Madrid Metro and Cercania to airport

We will be taking public transport from the Madrid Sol station to the airport terminal 1. It looks like the best way to get there is the Cercania C3 or C4b to Nuevos Ministerios station, then Metro 1 to the terminal. What ticket(s) will I need to cover the two trains? I know about the airport supplement, and this will likely be our only use of the train system. A one-day Tourist Ticket might the easiest way, though it may cost a couple Euros more than other options.

You can buy it from the machines.
Buy a single ticket from the machine in the process of this you add the airport supplement. You will see the supplement option listed on the screen.

I would consider taking the express bus from plaza de cibeles. It's right near the bank of Spain stop and 5 euros paid via contactless when you board the bus.

I have read that the Cercania and Metro train systems require their own tickets- the systems are not integrated. The cost isn't the issue, rather the convenience. Ideally we would get one ticket at Sol station that would be good for the entire airport trip, and we wouldn't need to get new cards at the transfer station. I may be over-thinking this.
The Banco de Espana stop is not near our accommodation, Sol is 5 min. walk.

It's two stops on the metro to Banco de Espana from Sol. If you buy the 10 trips for 6 euro metro tickets there's a decent chance you'll have a trip left over and it's pretty frequent. Doesn't seem that difficult to me.

I just think the bus is super easy if you're intimidated by the commuter rail system. Also, I really like Cabify for getting a ride to the airport.
