Madrid hotel recommendation.

Looking for double room in central Madrid...close to restaurants and sites...moderately priced....end of April.

We were very happy with everything about the Artrip Hotel in October 2017. It's within walking distance of the Atocha Station, the Reina Sofia, Prado, and the Thyssen. We walked everywhere in Madrid except to the Royal Palace - which was my least favorite place.

We enjoyed Hotel Europa in 2017. We had an upper floor room with a balcony. The view and nightly vibe of Puerto del Sol was amazing. It was quiet at night. The location was centrally located to walk to the tourist attractions & restaurants. We took a recommended free walking tour with www.ogotours.com. Our knowledgeable guide met us in Puerto del Sol.

We were in Madrid in December, and stayed at the Iberstar Las Letras Gran Via. It was central to the Royal Palace and the Museum area. Easy walking to most everywhere, great paseo in the evenings and restaurants. We had a fabulous view of the Gran Via and the beautiful buildings. It was a bit noisy at times at night. A room off the main street may be a good idea. Front desk most helpful with google maps and directions. A very complete breakfast can be included, its optional. Excellent restaurant suggestions. Next time when they recommend a restaurant I will ask them to phone ahead for a reservation. The really good restaurants are very busy. Comfortable room nice size. Its a very old building but totally renovated.

Another vote for Hotel Europa -- two times over the past ten years or so. We like the front rooms with small French balconies overlooking the plaza though they can be noisy at night. The quiet rooms are to the back.
