Madrid Hotel not too expensive not too noisy

Anyone have a favorite hotel in Madrid City Center that is not too expensive and not too noisy?

I like Hotel Europa (and RS tours use it). Modern, comfortable, great location, great staff. Not too noisy - ask for a quiet room. Once I had a room over the restaurant entrance and for an hour at around 5 am they were delivering beer kegs and dragging the metal kegs along the sidewalk, but other than that, I slept well (light sleeper).

We stayed at Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin last summer and had a great stay. It's a nice location just off Puerta del Sol on the Opera side, and our room was quiet, clean and comfortable, staff were great, and their breakfast was really nice (with lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, fresh pastries, good coffee).

We were happy with out stay there and really didn't have any complaints about anything. Hope you feel the same whichever hotel you choose!

Probably need to define "not too expensive." However, any a big fan of Hotel Europa. - four stays. It doesn't get much closer to the center of Madrid than Europa. If you want quiet, request a room on the back side - very quiet. We enjoy the rooms with the little French balconies facing the square but they can be noisy especially if a demonstration is going on.

I'm also not sure what not too expensive means as it's very subjective. I have stayed several times at Hotel Casón del Tormes and would recommend it, it's on a very quiet side street a block from the Gran Via at Plaza de España.

Like a couple others have stated, my wife and I also stay at Hotel Europa. It's right at the Puerta del Sol and a nice location to walk to many of the city's sights. It's easy to get to from the airport; just get off the metro at the Puerta del Sol.

Go to Booking.com or Agoda.com or Trivago.com, and look at the Hostels in your price range with the best reviews. I have stayed at some places that were fine in the $19 Euro price range in the Puerta Del Sol area which I liked. They were just o.k. but as long as they had hot water, and a/c in the summer or heat in the winter, my own bathroom, I was fine.
