We will spend one night in Madrid and will arrive via train from Toledo. The next day, my husband heads to the airport and I will be taking a day trip to Segovia. Though we will be in Madrid just a limited time it would also be ideal to be in an area where we can enjoy something of the city for a half day or less. We will spend more time in Madrid on another trip to Spain. Looking for recommendations of an area of Madrid to spend the night, please.

I've stayed at the Hotel Europa on both my visits. It's at Puerto del Sol, in the heart of the city, and just meters from the metro and cercanias trains to the train station and airport.
